If we talk about #sustainable environmental practices, the European Union is always a leader all over the world. Our continent was the first to gradually reduce hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants (HFCs) in favour of more efficient alternatives, but above all with low global warming potential #GWP and therefore more sustainable.
In particular, let’s talk about R-290, propane. Part of an elite class of sustainable alternatives, that’s a naturally occurring #hydrocarbon (HC) with a GWP value of 3. Just for comparison with another hydrocarbon, the methane (CH4), has got a value of 24.
Several laboratory tests highlight the exceptional thermodynamic properties of propane: similar and in some parameters higher than those of R-22 and more energy-efficient than 404A.
The structures that already have chosen propane in air conditioning applications in Italy and Europe are tens of thousands, from small markets to the huge automotive industry.
#Emicon is nowadays a competitive leader in Europe in the design and manufacture of chillers working with R290. With its 4th generation of RAS Kp #chiller and PAS Kp #heatpump units, it has increased their energy and acoustic performances compared to previous generations, as a result of its long experience on this field.
